As they are out in the meadows, they will naturally eat grass as part of their diet. They also harvest bugs and worms as well as pick up grit from the soil as they scratch and search for their food. Our experience has been they will not do as well if only on grass so we also do provide grains, including corn and soy, for the hens to eat besides the outdoor smorgasbord.
